Kat Von D

A drawing of the very talented celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D, well known from the TV series 'L.A. Ink'. This was done for a Drawing Jam over at The Drawing Board.

The green of tattoos and the pink of skin was a great chance for me to experiment with complimentary opposites in the colour scheme. Also in the original reference photo she was wearing an oversized grey singlet which was unflattering and covered half her tattoos, so I had the added challenge of getting everything right underneath. Pretty happy with it.

Thanks Zoe

Yeah, go right ahead. You'd have a tattoo of a tattooed tattoo artist. :D

Love to see photos if you do.

I saw this in the thread too, definitely one of the better renditions of Kat from there! You always seem to go the extra mile, Chris--you actually looked up her tattoos to make sure you got them right! I would've just scribbled.

Also, I had no idea she had a tattoo of Jerry Seinfeld on her left leg!

Thanks Kat! Appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment. Glad you like it.

...and don't be so modest, I'm sure you could draw this easily.

Cedric- Thanks man! Really like your work. The quality's well above and beyond your 16 years.

Ryan- Thanks. The tattoos started off as scribble, but I kept revisiting it refining the tattoos more each time. Jerry? haha I might have to fix that face.

faboun'e- Thanks. I'm thrilled to have Kat comment here as well.
